Signing up for power is easy.

Your power options

In Alberta, you have the power to choose how you buy electricity. You can sign up with a competitive retailer, like Encor by EPCOR for your home or business, or you can choose to stay on the regulated rate option.

Encor by EPCOR offers easy-to-manage, no obligation energy plans. Choose from natural gas, electricity and green energy options. With a fixed home energy plan from Encor by EPCOR, you'll know what your energy rate will be from month to month. You won't have to worry about keeping track of multiple energy bills or switching plans if circumstances change.

Regulated rate options

 

Not everyone wants to sign a contract for electricity. If that describes you, you can choose our regulated rate option. There is no contract and you pay month to month. This option is offered at the current market price, so your energy rate will change every month. If you choose not to sign up with a competitive retailer, you'll be defaulted to the regulated rate option.

Whether you are transferring your services to a new address or hooking up service to a location with no power, here's what you'll need to sign up online or over the phone with the help of one of our experts:

  • Your contact details, including your email address

  • Your service address

  • Your site identification number (if you know it)

  • Your billing address

​Power meters

If you are hooking up service for the first time, you'll need a meter. If your site has passed inspection and all permits are in place, you can request a meter installation (for both power and water) through our website by creating an account.

However, if your inspections have not all passed or if you wish to make changes to your existing meters, please call us at (780) 310-4300.

All customers are free to purchase natural gas services from the default supply provider or from a retailer of their choice and to purchase electricity services from the regulated rate provider or from a retailer of their choice. The delivery of natural gas and electricity to you is not affected by your choice. If you change who you purchase natural gas services or electricity services from, you will continue receiving natural gas and electricity from the distribution company in your service area. For a current list of retailers you may choose from, visit ucahelps.alberta.ca or call 310-4822 (toll free in Alberta). Some offers, in whole or in part, may not be available in gas co-ops, municipally owned utilities, and some Rural Electrification Associations.
